Latics boss Roberto Martinez looks set to offer a deal for Espanyol forward the Raul Tamudo.

A long-serving player for the Barcelona’based club, Tamudo has been involved in a very public falling-out with coach Mauricio Pochettino which has left the striker out in the cold.

The Daily Mirror reports that player’s representative, Tomas Duran, is negotiating with the Latics over a move.

Recent speculation emanating from Spain suggests that Tamudo and Espanyol are close to reaching an agreement to terminate the remainder of the 32-year old’s contract, freeing him up to discuss terms over a move to the Premier League.

They appear to have earmarked Tamudo as an ideal back-up striker to Martinez’s preferred front pairing of Hugo Rodallega and Jason Scotland.
