Mauricio Pochettino has welcomed Raul Tamudo back into his squad amid speculation over the player's future, while a move to Real Betis has been dismissed.

The Espanyol coach has ignored talk of the striker having played his last game for the club.

Talks have been on-going during the week between the Catalan outfit and the player's agent, Tomas Duran, and Pochettino believes that the matter will be resolved.

"Tamudo is like any other player. If he is fit to play then I will weigh him up and if not then I will not," he was quoted as saying by El Mundo Deportivo.

"He has the same chance as anyone else and on Friday I will decide."

It is still likely that Tamudo will leave in January as the club do not want to renew his contract at the end of the current campaign, but Duran has rejected talk of a move to Betis.

"Betis are a great club, that is for sure, but at the moment we are not considering Raul going down to the second division," he told Sport.
