Wigan are interested in Espanyol striker Raul Tamudo as manager Roberto Martinez looks to put his stamp on the first-team.

Martinez was bitterly disappointed by Saturday's abysmal performance which saw them lose 4-0 to Portsmouth, particularly given that came just a week after the high of winning at Burnley.

The Latics boss knows his side need to become more consistent and with that in mind, the Spaniard is anxious to strengthen his squad.

Tamudo is desperate to move away from Espanyol and is in talks to secure an early release from his contract.

The DW Stadium is one possible destination for the Spanish international, although Roma and several other Premier League clubs are also interested.

Martinez said: "Tamudo is on our list and yes, I would like him."
